When Media Thinks Back: AI, Agency, and the Concept of Media
Media has been a constant companion throughout his life. What began as dissatisfaction with the dull, uninspired design of Korean textbooks became a driving force in his academic journey. His master’s thesis—an experimental study comparing his own textbook designs with conventional ones—marked his first meaningful step into the world of media. This passion eventually led him to participate in the development of Korea’s very first digital textbooks.
He has held various positions throughout his career, including secretary general of a labor union, journalist for a newspaper, and the webmaster of a local community during his time abroad. He later took on leadership positions as the director of the Center for Teaching and Learning at his university and as president of the Korean Association for Educational Information and Media (KAEIM). Recently, his focus has turned to the very essence of media itself—exploring its core concepts as the foundation for meaningful media education.
